Head: Small, profile always straight in females
(even slightly concave) and subconvex in rams.
Eyes: Protruding arches, eyes large and bright.
Ears: Small and horizontal.
Muzzle: In black sheep it is black, except
in the case of "gueifes" which sport a white mark. In black sheep
it is stainless, though a very small black one may be accepted.
Neck: Short and firm, more so in rams than
females. The hair alongside it gives them an air resembling a mountain
goat.
Body: Long; straight in females, males having
a slight hump. Well arched rib case.

Legs: Slender with short, hard hooves, forelegs
quite straight. Hocks may frequently knock or even cross over.
Skin: smooth, creaseless.
Udders: well set, small nipples.

Colour: Black, white, mixture of both, or
with large stains.

Black individuals may sport a white mark on the
head, different names being given to the sheep depending on its
location: crown, muzzle or neck. As it grows, black wool turns reddish.
Wool: Wool grows down to the hock, strands
varying in length. Short curls, well padded forehead.

"Xalda" sheep are agile, lively and good walker.
In general, they look small and shapely.
